Vernon Garrison

- in remembrance of Vernon Garrison -

VERNON GARRISON died peacefully at home on Dec. 11, 2008 from
Alzheimers at the age of 81. He was born May 3, 1927 near Cave City
to Arthur and Tiney Garrison. He grew up the 5th of 7 brothers and 4 sisters,
all of whom are now deceased.

Vernon graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College. He earned a master's
degree in education from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt Univ, and
did doctoral studies at Auburn Univ. and the Univ. of Ark. On March 27, 1954
Vernon married Etheleen Moore of Michie Tenn. Vernon and Etheleen lived in
Little Rock where Vickie was born in 1956.

They moved to Wynne the following year where David was born in 1957.
Vernon and family moved to Camden in 1960 where Linda was born and
Jeff was added in 1965.

Vernon served in the Camden School System for 28 years. First as principal
of Whitside Elementary and from 1973 - 1988 Superintendent of schools.

Vernon was a Baptist. A deacon, an active Gideon. Vernon was active in
several Clubs, He was President of the Ouachita Ramblin Sams for 3 years
and active in the club until March of 2008 when he became sick.

Vernon was devoted to the service of his community
and served as the head of several boards and commissions.

His hobbies were camping with family and friends, fishing and loving his Grandchildren.


Dedicated to Vernon Garrison!


Though He's gone, He is not forgotten.
Though absent, He remains in spirit.
Though once a worker, He now rest.
